Logistics and port operator Gulftainer has launched a new India–UAE Shuttle Service (ISX) aimed at strengthening supply-chain continuity and supporting the United Arab Emirates’ food security initiatives.
The service will operate on a rotation linking Mundra Port – Jawaharlal Nehru Port – Khorfakkan Port – Mundra, with multiple weekly sailings handled by a three-vessel fleet. The service is designed to facilitate the movement of food and agricultural shipments from India to the UAE with a fast transit time of approximately four days.
According to the company, the shuttle service will play an important role in ensuring the steady flow of essential food cargo from India, a key trading partner for the UAE in agricultural and food products.
At the centre of this corridor is Khorfakkan Port, which serves as a strategic gateway for the UAE’s food supply chain. The port’s Khorfakkan Container Terminal provides efficient handling and connectivity for inbound cargo, enabling rapid distribution across the country.
The port also acts as a maritime bridge linking India and the UAE, supported by integrated logistics infrastructure that connects farms, supply chains, and consumer markets. A strong land-bridge network further accelerates inland deliveries, helping reduce transit times for time-sensitive food shipments.
Industry observers note that the new shuttle service strengthens trade connectivity between India and the UAE while enhancing the resilience of regional food supply chains through improved maritime logistics and port infrastructure.
