A.P. Moller–Maersk is set to launch dry port services at the EWG Terminal, expanding its inland logistics network in Central Europe and strengthening multimodal supply chain connectivity in the region.
The initiative will allow the global shipping and logistics company to offer integrated services that connect seaports with inland destinations through rail and road networks. By operating dry port services at the EWG Terminal, Maersk aims to streamline cargo movement between major European ports and industrial hubs in Hungary and neighbouring countries.
Dry ports function as inland logistics hubs where containers can be handled, stored and cleared through customs before being transported to or from seaports. This model helps reduce congestion at maritime gateways while enabling faster cargo distribution across inland markets.
The facility in Budapest is strategically located to serve key manufacturing and trade corridors in Central and Eastern Europe, providing efficient connections to seaports in northern and southern Europe. The new services are expected to support exporters and importers by offering improved transit times, enhanced cargo visibility and integrated logistics solutions.
With the addition of the EWG Terminal to its logistics network, A.P. Moller–Maersk continues to expand its presence in inland logistics and rail-based cargo transportation, part of the company’s broader strategy to develop end-to-end supply chain services beyond traditional ocean shipping.
