Misurata Free Zone Port has launched a new direct container shipping service connecting the port with China, strengthening trade connectivity and expanding Libya’s access to Asian supply chains.

The new service is expected to improve cargo movement efficiency, reduce transit times and support growing import and export activity between Libya and China across industrial, consumer and construction-related goods.

Port authorities said the direct connection will enhance the strategic role of Misurata Free Zone Port as a regional logistics and transshipment hub serving North Africa and Mediterranean trade routes.

The service is also expected to support businesses operating within the Misurata Free Zone by improving supply chain reliability and expanding access to international shipping networks.

The launch reflects increasing efforts by regional ports to strengthen direct maritime links with major global manufacturing and trade centres as shipping demand and cargo connectivity continue to grow.
