Maersk is set to launch a new weekly Qilin service connecting China and Australia, further strengthening trade connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region.

The service will offer a direct shipping link between major Chinese ports and Australia, including a 14-day transit time from Shanghai to Sydney. Industry sources said the new route is aimed at improving schedule reliability and providing faster cargo movement for exporters and importers operating on the China-Australia trade lane.

The Qilin service forms part of Maersk’s broader strategy to expand regional shipping coverage and support growing demand for container transport between Asia and Oceania. The trade corridor remains critical for the movement of consumer goods, machinery, industrial products, agricultural cargo and retail shipments.

Shipping analysts noted that carriers are increasingly introducing dedicated regional services to improve transit efficiency and strengthen supply chain resilience amid evolving trade patterns and rising cargo volumes. Faster transit times are also expected to benefit time-sensitive and high-value cargo segments.

Maersk said the weekly service will provide customers with enhanced connectivity, improved service predictability and more flexible logistics solutions across the China-Australia market.
