    In a significant step towards advancing railway infrastructure and freight transportation efficiency, the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has entered into a strategic partnership with Australia’s Monash University’s Institute of Railway Technology (IRT). The collaboration was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on optimizing the wheel–rail interface across the DFCCIL network.

    The MoU was signed by Mr. Pawan K. Rai, Director (Project Planning), DFCCIL, and Prof. Ravi Ravitharan, Institute of Railway Technology, Monash University, in the presence of Mr. Praveen Kumar, Managing Director, DFCCIL, Mr. Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure), and other senior officials.

    The partnership combines DFCCIL’s extensive operational expertise with Monash University’s globally recognized research capabilities in railway technology. Under the agreement, both organizations will jointly study rail-wheel interaction dynamics and develop advanced methodologies aimed at enhancing track life and overall infrastructure performance across the Dedicated Freight Corridor network.

    The initiative is expected to deliver multiple long-term benefits, including improved asset reliability, enhanced operational safety, reduced maintenance requirements, optimized lifecycle costs, and greater efficiency in freight movement. By leveraging cutting-edge research and data-driven solutions, the collaboration seeks to support the sustainable growth of India’s dedicated freight railway infrastructure while strengthening the performance and resilience of the country’s logistics ecosystem.

    The MoU underscores DFCCIL’s commitment to adopting global best practices and innovative technologies to improve freight rail operations and maximize the value of its infrastructure assets.
