State-owned logistics major Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has commenced the transportation of pig iron from the ACPC Private Siding to the GFPA CONCOR terminal, marking a significant long-distance freight movement connecting southern and northern India.

The newly introduced traffic stream covers an approximate distance of 2,400 km and has been developed as part of a strategic long-lead logistics initiative by the CONCOR Hyderabad Cluster. The service is aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity and improving the efficiency of bulk commodity transportation across regions.

The cargo originates from Arjas Modern Steel Pvt. Ltd., located at Jambulapadu in Challavaripalle, Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh, under the Guntakal Division of South Coast Railway. The company has partnered with CONCOR for the movement of pig iron to northern markets.

According to CONCOR, the successful commencement of the operation highlights the growing role of rail-based multimodal logistics in supporting industrial supply chains and facilitating long-distance cargo movement. The initiative is expected to strengthen freight connectivity between manufacturing hubs in South India and consumption centers in the northern region.

The development reinforces CONCOR’s focus on expanding its cargo portfolio and providing efficient, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solutions to industrial customers across the country.
