National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) have partnered to establish a dedicated research centre focused on transport economics, infrastructure analysis, and data-driven policy development.

The collaboration aims to strengthen research capabilities in India’s transport sector by studying key areas such as road infrastructure, mobility trends, logistics efficiency, economic impact of highways, and emerging challenges in transportation planning.

The new research platform will support evidence-based decision-making by generating insights through economic analysis, data studies, and policy research. It is expected to contribute to improving infrastructure planning and enhancing the efficiency of India’s transportation networks.

The initiative comes as India continues to expand its road and logistics infrastructure under major connectivity programmes. Research-driven approaches are increasingly important for improving project planning, investment decisions, and long-term transport sustainability.

Through the partnership, NHAI and NCAER aim to create a knowledge base that supports smarter infrastructure development and helps shape future transport policies in India.
