Maersk will increase its Destination Handling Charge (DHC) for shipments from worldwide origins, excluding Saudi Arabia, to Sudan, with the revised rates applying to dry, reefer and special containers.
Under the new tariff, the DHC will rise to €125 per 20-foot container and €189 per 40-foot container. The revised charges will apply based on the shipment’s Price Calculation Date (PCD).
For shipments from Vietnam, the new rates will take effect from September 15, 2026, while shipments from non-regulated countries and FMC-regulated trades will be subject to the revised charges from October 1, 2026.
For non-spot bookings outside FMC-regulated trades, the PCD is based on the scheduled departure date of the first water leg at the time of booking confirmation. For FMC-regulated shipments, the PCD is the final container gate-in date.
The new rates apply across 20ft and 40ft dry, reefer and special containers. Maersk said the charges remain subject to applicable local regulations and may be accompanied by other local or contingency surcharges.
The adjustment follows another recent Maersk revision to its Destination Documentation Fee for Sudan, highlighting continued changes to the carrier’s tariff structure for shipments to the country.
