CMA CGM and COSCO Shipping Lines have revised the Mexican port call on their joint PEX2/CAX1 service, replacing Manzanillo with Lázaro Cárdenas. The change is part of an updated rotation connecting the Far East with the Pacific and eastern coasts of Central America.
The revised rotation is Ho Chi Minh (Cai Mep) – Shenzhen (Shekou) – Hong Kong – Ningbo – Shanghai – Qingdao – Busan – Lázaro Cárdenas – Balboa – Colón (Manzanillo) – Cartagena – Kingston – Caucedo – Ho Chi Minh.
Lázaro Cárdenas will therefore become the service’s direct Mexican call, while Manzanillo, Panama, remains in the rotation. CMA CGM’s current PEX2 information also lists Lázaro Cárdenas as a key Mexican gateway within the service network.
The change is expected to provide the carriers with an alternative gateway for Mexican cargo while maintaining connections to Panama, Colombia, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and wider Caribbean markets through the service’s existing network.
