Shri Sushil Kumar Lohani, IAS, Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), chaired a meeting to review the progress of various projects undertaken by the National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways and Coasts (NTCPWC), IIT Madras.
The meeting reviewed key technical projects related to the development and improvement of National Waterways, including physical model studies, navigational lock systems, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), mathematical modelling and navigability studies.
Discussions also covered ship repair facilities and the reuse of dredged material, with the projects aimed at strengthening waterway infrastructure, improving navigability and supporting the development of inland water transport in the country.
The review is expected to facilitate coordinated progress on technology-driven solutions for enhancing the efficiency and capacity of India’s inland waterways.
