AD Ports Group has launched a Fujairah–Abu Dhabi rail freight service, connecting Fujairah Terminals with Abu Dhabi’s industrial zone and extending the port’s cargo reach by rail over a distance of around 200 km.
The service enables shipping lines, freight forwarders and cargo owners to book shipments directly to Abu Dhabi’s industrial zone as the destination and clearance point. Containers can then be transported by rail to the zone for inspection, customs clearance and release.
The service will operate three times a week and integrates Fujairah Terminals with the UAE National Rail Network and Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD).
Fujairah’s location beyond the Strait of Hormuz also provides an alternative maritime gateway for freight operations. AD Ports Group and Etihad Rail have not indicated whether the current regional situation or the Strait’s accessibility influenced the launch.
AD Ports Group Ports Cluster CEO Saif Al Mazrouei said the integrated service connects key gateways with the industrial and commercial ecosystems they serve, bringing port-related services closer to customers.
The new rail link is expected to strengthen the UAE’s logistics connectivity with the GCC, India, the Red Sea and East Africa, supporting its position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
