India and Cyprus are moving to deepen cooperation in maritime services, shipping, logistics and related business activities, with a maritime business forum scheduled to take place in Mumbai in November 2026.

The development follows the first meeting of the Cyprus–India Joint Maritime Committee in Limassol on September 29. Officials from both countries discussed their maritime sectors and explored opportunities for closer cooperation, including investment, maritime education and training, and the exchange of industry practices.

The two countries are also looking to strengthen links between their maritime businesses. A Cypriot maritime delegation will accompany the Shipping Deputy Minister during an official visit to India from November 21–26, with the Mumbai forum expected to provide a platform for companies from both countries to explore commercial partnerships.

Areas of potential cooperation include shipping, maritime services, connectivity, transport and logistics. Cyprus has also identified opportunities linked to the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and its potential role as a European maritime and logistics gateway.

India and Cyprus have previously agreed to strengthen maritime cooperation under their existing bilateral merchant-shipping agreement. Their broader partnership includes cooperation in maritime services, port connectivity, logistics, maritime training and skills development, as well as green shipping and regulatory compliance.

The upcoming Mumbai forum is expected to focus on direct business-to-business engagement and identifying investment and cooperation opportunities between the two maritime industries. Indian authorities are working with the private sector and business chambers on preparations for the event.

The growing maritime engagement reflects the broader expansion of India–Cyprus economic ties and could create new opportunities for shipping companies, port operators, logistics providers and maritime service businesses in both countries.
