Karachi Port is advancing its multipurpose cargo-handling capabilities with the completion of dredging works at Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML), operated by Noatum Ports. The dredging is expected to enable deeper berths and accommodate larger bulk vessels.

The next phase of development will focus on expanding cargo-handling infrastructure, including high-capacity ship unloaders and loaders, food-grade storage silos, dedicated export warehouses and integrated logistics facilities.

The project includes a 15-metre berth depth and capacity to handle bulk vessels of up to 120,000 MT, supported by four ship unloaders and two ship loaders. The silo complex will comprise 14 food-grade silos with a handling capacity of up to 9 million tonnes, while export infrastructure is designed to handle up to 8.5 million tonnes.

The upgraded facilities are expected to improve vessel turnaround times and contribute to lower freight costs, strengthening Karachi Port’s role in Pakistan’s bulk-cargo and export logistics network.
