Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) has crossed 50,000 units in cumulative exports of its e Vitara electric SUV since global shipments began in August 2025, marking a significant milestone in the company’s electric vehicle export programme.
Europe was the first market to receive the e Vitara and continues to be its largest export destination. The company said it was India’s largest exporter of electric vehicles in FY2025-26 and retained its leadership position during April–September 2026.
Maruti Suzuki began exporting the e Vitara following the commencement of production at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat in August 2025. The production launch was commemorated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the vehicle earmarked for sale in more than 100 countries.
The company currently exports the electric SUV to nearly 50 countries, strengthening India’s position as a manufacturing and export hub for electric vehicles.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Maruti Suzuki India, said the e Vitara’s export journey reflects the company’s commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and its ambition to expand India’s footprint in the global electric mobility market.
The milestone underscores the growing role of Indian automotive manufacturing in international EV supply chains, with Maruti Suzuki leveraging its domestic production capabilities to serve markets across Europe and other regions.
