Adani Enterprises Ltd has completed around 62% of the planned expenditure on its ₹26,000-crore polyvinyl chloride (PVC) manufacturing project at Mundra in Gujarat, with the first phase of the facility scheduled for commissioning in FY28.

The company has invested ₹16,133 crore in the project, including ₹3,895 crore in FY25, ₹7,979 crore in FY26 and ₹4,319 crore in the first half of FY27, according to its investor presentation. The progress reflects more than 60% completion in terms of both project expenditure and construction work.

The first phase will have a production capacity of one million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Following commissioning, the facility is expected to undergo a stabilisation period of six to nine months, the company’s management said during an investor call on Wednesday.

The plant forms part of a larger, planned 2-MTPA PVC complex that Adani Enterprises is developing as the cornerstone of a petrochemical cluster at Mundra in Gujarat’s Kutch district.

The project is expected to strengthen domestic PVC manufacturing capacity and reduce India’s dependence on imports. PVC is widely used in pipes, construction materials, cables and various industrial applications. Demand for the material is supported by infrastructure development, housing, water supply and irrigation projects.

The Mundra investment is part of Adani Enterprises’ broader strategy to expand its industrial and infrastructure portfolio, which includes petrochemicals, copper, new energy, airports and data centres.

With construction progressing on schedule, the project represents a significant step in the company’s plans to establish a large-scale petrochemical manufacturing base at Mundra.
