India is preparing to enter the global railway export market with its indigenously developed Vande Bharat trains, with exports expected to begin within the next three to four years, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced.
The announcement comes following the launch of the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper train, marking another significant milestone in the modernisation of Indian Railways.
Vaishnaw expressed satisfaction with the development of the new-generation train, highlighting India’s growing capabilities in railway technology, engineering and manufacturing.
The proposed export push reflects India’s ambition to emerge as a global supplier of advanced railway systems, leveraging its domestic manufacturing capabilities and technological advancements.
The initiative is expected to open new opportunities for India’s railway manufacturing sector, while strengthening the country’s position in the international rail transportation market.
