    N Vinod Kumar, Chairman, Mormugao Port Authority has been entrusted with the additional charge of Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

    Vinod Kumar replaces S K Mehta, who will step down as Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority, on completing his five-year tenure on 16 April.

    Vinod Kumar will hold additional charge of Deendayal Port Authority for six months or until a full-time Chairman is picked, whichever is earlier, the Ministry order said.

    An Indian Postal Service (IPoS) cadre officer of the 1994 batch, Vinod Kumar has been Chairman, Mormugao Port Authority since 3 April 2023.

    Deendayal and Mormugao Ports are among the 12 ports run by the Union government.

    Deendayal Port Authority is India’s second biggest state-owned port by volumes handled.
    In FY24, Deendayal Port Authority handled 132.3 million tonnes (mt) of cargo while Mormugao Port Authority handled 20.62 mt.
