Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) plans to significantly expand its light commercial vehicle (LCV) portfolio, aiming to launch seven new models by 2030. This initiative focuses on the underserved multi-fuel, large (1.7-2 tonnes) and medium (1.3-1.5 tonnes) categories.

M&M’s strategic move targets the intra-city goods movement market, leveraging their 49% market share in LCV sales as of FY24. This expansion will also focus on the Middle East and Latin American markets, as highlighted in an investor presentation.

M&M’s Camper and Maxx ranges cater primarily to intercity transportation. The upcoming LCVs will address intra-city logistics needs, offering a variety of fuel options, including electric vehicles, all within the 3.5-tonne weight limit.

This initiative builds on M&M’s success in the small LCV segment (1-1.2 tonnes payload) with popular models like Supro and Jeeto. The new models will include fuel-efficient options for medium and large payloads, enhancing M&M’s portfolio and meeting the growing demand for versatile, eco-friendly transport solutions.

The announcement aligns with the global surge in e-commerce and on-demand delivery services, positioning M&M to capitalize on these expanding markets.
