Air India and Riyadh Air have signed an initial agreement to establish a codeshare partnership, marking a significant step toward enhancing air connectivity between India, Saudi Arabia and a wider range of international destinations.

The memorandum of understanding lays the foundation for closer commercial cooperation between the two carriers, enabling passengers to access an expanded network through seamless connections and coordinated travel options. The proposed codeshare arrangement is expected to improve connectivity across key markets served by both airlines.

Under the partnership, travelers will benefit from greater flight choices, streamlined booking processes and improved access to destinations beyond each airline’s direct network. The collaboration is also expected to support growing passenger traffic between India and Saudi Arabia, one of the busiest international travel corridors in the region.

The agreement aligns with Air India’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its global footprint and expand international partnerships as part of its broader transformation and network development plans. For Riyadh Air, the partnership supports its ambition to build a comprehensive international network ahead of its planned expansion of operations.

India and Saudi Arabia share strong economic, business and people-to-people ties, with millions of Indian expatriates residing in the Kingdom and substantial traffic generated by tourism, business travel and religious pilgrimages. Enhanced cooperation between the two airlines is expected to further facilitate mobility between the two countries.

The airlines will work toward securing the necessary regulatory approvals and finalizing operational details before launching codeshare services. Once implemented, the arrangement is expected to offer improved travel convenience and strengthen connectivity across Asia, the Middle East and other key global markets.

The partnership reflects a broader trend among airlines seeking strategic alliances to expand market reach, optimize network coverage and improve customer experience without deploying additional aircraft on every route. As both carriers continue to grow their international presence, the collaboration is expected to create new opportunities for passengers and support increasing demand for cross-border travel.
