    Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has thanked Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for extending support to port connectivity works worth over ₹570 crore for the Machilipatnam port project.

    The connectivity package includes road infrastructure aimed at improving access between the port and key national highways, industrial clusters and hinterland regions. Officials said the improved links will help facilitate smoother movement of cargo, reduce logistics costs and enhance the port’s attractiveness for exporters and shipping lines.

    The Chief Minister noted that the Centre’s support for the connectivity component is critical for accelerating the development of Machilipatnam port as a key maritime gateway on the east coast. The project is expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s port-led development strategy and support regional economic growth.

    Union officials said the investment aligns with the government’s broader push to improve last-mile connectivity to ports under national logistics and infrastructure programmes. Once completed, the connectivity works are expected to boost trade, generate employment and improve multimodal transport efficiency in the region.

    Machilipatnam port is being developed to handle a range of cargo, including bulk, breakbulk and containers, and enhanced connectivity is seen as vital for unlocking its full commercial potential.
