Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the creation of the Andhra Pradesh Logistics Infrastructure Corporation (AP-LInC), a key initiative aimed at transforming the State into a world-class logistics hub along India’s east coast.
AP-LInC will serve as the State’s central logistics authority, integrating major infrastructure elements such as ports, airports, national and state highways, inland waterways, and cold-chain networks. The corporation will also spearhead investment promotion, with the appointment of a Managing Director expected shortly.
During a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, the Chief Minister emphasised that AP-LInC should evolve into a government-led holding company capable of attracting global investments in logistics. He directed officials to intensify efforts to strengthen logistics infrastructure across all districts, including the establishment of dedicated cells to address ground-level gaps, particularly in remote regions.
Reiterating his vision to position Andhra Pradesh as the “Gateway of the East Coast,” Mr. Naidu said the State will also set up a Logistics University and a Civil Aviation University to ensure industry-ready talent and cutting-edge research.
The Chief Minister recalled his address at the recent East Coast and Logistics Summit held in Visakhapatnam, highlighting the key role of logistics in driving economic growth and employment. Currently contributing around 1% to the State’s GSDP, Mr. Naidu said the goal is to raise the sector’s share to at least 3%.
Andhra Pradesh’s natural advantages—its long coastline, strategic location, and growing port network—were also underscored. With six ports operational and four more under development, the State is moving ahead with its plan to establish a port or fishing harbour every 50 km along its 1,050 km coastline.
“A.P. ranks second in sea-cargo movement and is a logistics lifeline for neighbouring States such as Telangana, Maharashtra, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Karnataka,” Mr. Naidu said, reaffirming the government’s commitment to port-led development and integrated logistics growth.
