Delta Ports Mormugao Terminal Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Delta Infralogistics (Worldwide) Limited and Group Delta, has officially revived container operations at Mormugao Port with the maiden call of MV SCI Mumbai on 20 November 2025. The milestone marks the return of containerized trade to Goa after several years of inactivity.

The inauguration of the service was jointly officiated by Dr. N. Vinodkumar, IPoS, Chairperson, Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), and Mr. Ahmed Mohiuddin, Chief Managing Director, Delta Ports. Senior representatives from MPA, Customs, Immigration, Delta Ports, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Goa Chamber of Commerce, Verna Industrial Association, freight forwarders, CHAs, and other trade stakeholders were present at the ceremony.

As the concessionaire of Berth Nos. 10 & 11 under a 30-year PPP agreement, Delta Ports has pledged to develop world-class infrastructure and boost container throughput to strengthen Goa’s maritime economy. The arrival of MV SCI Mumbai is seen as a turning point, positioning the port once again as a viable gateway for coastal and EXIM container traffic.

The new service connects Goa directly with Mundra and Kandla Ports, reducing dependence on traditional routes via JNPT and Mumbai. Improved coastal and EXIM connectivity is expected to streamline access to Gulf markets, with several global shipping lines already in discussions with SCI for slot arrangements and repositioning empty containers to Goa.
