The Government of India has appointed senior IAS officer Shri Anurag Jain (1989 Batch, Madhya Pradesh Cadre) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the country’s premier public policy think tank at a crucial phase of India’s economic and infrastructure transformation.
A distinguished administrator with nearly four decades of experience, Shri Jain has held several key positions in the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, earning recognition for his contributions to infrastructure development, industrial policy, investment promotion, public administration and governance.
Before taking over as CEO of NITI Aayog, he served as the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh, where he spearheaded several governance reforms and development initiatives. At the Centre, he served as Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), playing an important role in advancing India’s infrastructure expansion, industrial growth, logistics reforms and investment ecosystem.
As CEO of NITI Aayog, Shri Jain is expected to lead the institution in shaping India’s long-term development agenda, driving policy innovation, strengthening cooperative federalism and supporting the implementation of key national priorities. His leadership will be instrumental in promoting infrastructure-led growth, enhancing manufacturing competitiveness, accelerating industrial transformation and advancing the Government’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Industry stakeholders have welcomed the appointment, noting that Shri Jain’s extensive experience in infrastructure, logistics and industrial development positions him well to strengthen policy coordination and foster greater collaboration between the government, industry and academia. His appointment is also expected to provide further impetus to reforms aimed at improving the efficiency and global competitiveness of India’s transport, logistics and railway sectors.
