APM Terminals Mumbai has recorded its highest-ever container throughput for the month of January, handling 211,846 TEUs, reflecting strong cargo demand and improved terminal performance at one of India’s key gateway ports.
The record volume was driven by a combination of steady import–export flows, higher vessel calls, and operational efficiencies at the terminal. Trade-linked sectors such as engineering goods, chemicals, consumer products, and retail cargo contributed to the robust throughput during the month.
Terminal officials said continued investments in equipment, yard planning, and digital processes have helped improve productivity and vessel turnaround times, enabling the terminal to handle higher volumes despite ongoing congestion pressures at major ports.
Industry observers noted that the strong January performance points to resilient trade momentum on India’s west coast, supported by stable demand from overseas markets and improving supply chain reliability. The terminal plays a critical role in connecting Indian exporters and importers to global shipping networks across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
APM Terminals Mumbai said it remains focused on enhancing capacity and service levels to support future growth, as containerised trade through Indian ports continues to expand amid shifting global trade patterns.
