Bangladesh’s merchandise exports to India increased 7.67% year-on-year to $335.2 million during July-August of FY2026-27, up from $311.3 million in the corresponding period last year, according to Export Promotion Bureau data.
The increase represents a $23.9 million gain and comes as Bangladesh’s overall merchandise exports also expanded during the first two months of the fiscal year. Total exports reached around $9.16 billion, compared with $8.69 billion a year earlier.
India remains an important regional market for Bangladeshi exporters due to its large consumer base, geographic proximity and established trade connectivity. The latest growth indicates scope for further expansion of Bangladesh’s exports to India, particularly in non-traditional products such as processed food, plastics, jute products and leather goods.
Despite the increase in exports, Bangladesh continues to run a substantial trade deficit with India. In FY2025-26, Bangladesh exported about $1.75 billion worth of goods to India while imports from India were around $11 billion.
