China Cargo Airlines has launched a scheduled service between Hefei Xinqiao International Airport (HFE) in China and Liege Airport (LGG) in Belgium.

Liege Airport announced it had been added to China Cargo Airlines’ network in a LinkedIn post on Monday 26 May, stating a Boeing 777 freighter(s) would be used on the route.

“We are proud to welcome China Cargo Airlines to Liege Airport with the launch of a new scheduled service connecting Liege (LGG) and Hefei (HFE),” said Liege.

“This route is operated with the modern Boeing 777 Freighter (B777F) and will run three times a week, reinforcing the vital air freight corridor between Europe and Asia.”

The airport added: “This new connection not only increases cargo capacity and reliability, but also strengthens Liege Airport’s position as a key logistics gateway in Europe.”

Shanghai-based China Cargo Airlines, a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, has a fleet of 15 777Fs.

Last month, Saudia Cargo and China Cargo Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing interline agreements and maximising trade growth between Saudi Arabia and China.

In January, Hong Kong-headquartered Tam Group was appointed as the General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) for China Cargo Airlines in the Philippines. This followed Tam Group’s appointment as GSSA for China Cargo Airlines in Malaysia and Vietnam.
