CMA CGM has introduced new dangerous goods surcharges across several trade routes, increasing the additional costs applicable to shipments classified as hazardous cargo.
The surcharge changes apply to selected dangerous goods movements and are intended to reflect the additional operational, handling and safety requirements involved in transporting hazardous materials.
Dangerous goods require specialised documentation, container handling, stowage procedures and compliance measures throughout the shipping process. Carriers therefore apply additional charges to cover the higher costs and operational complexity associated with such shipments.
The latest adjustments will affect shippers moving qualifying dangerous goods on the specified trades. Customers are expected to review the applicable surcharge levels and effective dates when planning shipments.
The move comes as carriers continue to revise local and trade-specific charges in response to changing operating costs, regulatory requirements and network conditions.
