CMA CGM and ANL have announced new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on selected Asia-Pacific trade routes as carriers respond to sustained demand and rising operational costs during the peak shipping period.

The additional charges will apply to eligible shipments on specified services and are intended to cover increased costs associated with capacity constraints, equipment availability and higher operating expenses.

The new surcharges are expected to affect shippers moving containerised cargo across selected Asia-Pacific corridors. Customers have been advised to check the applicable trade lanes, container types, effective dates and surcharge levels with the carriers.

Peak Season Surcharges are commonly introduced by ocean carriers when demand rises and available vessel and equipment capacity comes under pressure. Such charges can increase the overall freight cost for exporters and importers.

The latest move by CMA CGM and ANL highlights continued pressure on freight rates across the Asia-Pacific market as carriers adjust pricing to changing demand and operating conditions.
