CMA CGM Group and China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore joint opportunities in port infrastructure, logistics, transport services, innovation and energy-transition projects worldwide.
The partnership will focus on potential projects across Africa, China and Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America, combining CCCC’s infrastructure development and construction expertise with CMA CGM’s global shipping, terminal and logistics capabilities.
The companies plan to examine integrated infrastructure and supply-chain projects, including logistics corridors, dry ports, container depots, warehouses and inland logistics platforms designed to improve connections between seaports and their hinterlands.
CMA CGM and its logistics arm, CEVA Logistics, will also explore providing shipping and project-logistics services for CCCC’s major international infrastructure projects. The cooperation could therefore cover both the development of physical infrastructure and the movement and management of cargo through those networks.
The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two groups. CCCC subsidiaries, including China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) and port-equipment manufacturer ZPMC, already have business links with CMA CGM. CHEC is a terminal partner at Lekki Freeport in Nigeria and Kribi Container Terminal in Cameroon, while ZPMC has supplied equipment to CMA CGM-linked terminals.
The companies also intend to explore cooperation in digitalisation, decarbonisation and energy transition, reflecting the growing need for smarter and lower-carbon port and logistics infrastructure. The partnership could strengthen CMA CGM’s global terminal and logistics strategy while giving CCCC access to a broader international shipping and supply-chain network.
The MoU was signed by CMA CGM Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé and CCCC President Zhang Bingnan, establishing a framework for identifying and developing future projects across key global trade regions.
