Global shipping giant CMA CGM has introduced a Port Community System (PCS) at the port of Freetown, Sierra Leone, aiming to streamline port operations and enhance digital connectivity for all stakeholders.
The PCS platform enables real-time data exchange between shipping lines, terminal operators, customs authorities, and logistics providers, improving efficiency, transparency, and cargo turnaround times. CMA CGM said the system will help reduce administrative bottlenecks and support smoother port operations.
A company spokesperson commented, “The introduction of the PCS at Freetown underscores CMA CGM’s commitment to digital transformation and operational excellence in West African ports. We believe this will benefit shippers, exporters, and the local economy.”
The initiative is part of CMA CGM’s broader strategy to modernize port operations across Africa, leveraging technology to facilitate trade and improve supply chain reliability.
