CMA CGM has announced revisions to its surcharges for cargo moving to West African destinations and updated its Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments to Mogadishu.
The changes form part of the carrier’s ongoing adjustments to freight charges in response to market conditions, operating costs and demand across its regional services.
For West Africa, the revised surcharges will affect applicable cargo moving on the carrier’s services to destinations in the region. Customers are advised to take the updated charges into account when planning shipments and calculating overall logistics costs.
CMA CGM has also updated its PSS for cargo destined for Mogadishu, Somalia, reflecting the carrier’s latest pricing arrangements for the trade.
Surcharges such as PSS are typically introduced or adjusted by shipping lines to manage periods of higher demand, operational constraints and additional costs associated with specific trades or destinations.
The latest changes are expected to affect shippers using CMA CGM services on the relevant routes. Exporters and importers will need to review the applicable surcharge levels and effective dates when making new bookings.
The revisions highlight the continued volatility in container shipping costs, particularly on trades affected by changing capacity, demand and regional operating conditions.
