CMA CGM has introduced measures aimed at restoring freight rates on selected India-related trade routes, as the carrier moves to align pricing with prevailing market conditions and operating costs.

The initiative is expected to apply to eligible cargo moving on specified services to and from India. Rate restoration measures are commonly used by carriers to strengthen freight levels when market pricing comes under pressure from changes in capacity, demand and operating expenses.

India remains an important market in CMA CGM’s global network, supported by strong export and import flows across manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, chemicals, agricultural products and other sectors.

The latest move comes amid continued volatility in the container shipping market, with carriers managing capacity and pricing against shifting trade patterns, geopolitical disruptions and changing demand.

Shippers using CMA CGM services on the affected India trades are advised to review the applicable rate changes and effective dates when planning upcoming shipments.

The rate restoration initiative highlights the carrier’s efforts to maintain sustainable freight levels while continuing to provide connectivity between India and key international markets.
