CMA CGM and global investment firm Stonepeak have completed their $2.4 billion United Ports joint venture, creating a strategic platform focused on expanding port infrastructure and strengthening terminal operations. The partnership marks a significant investment in global maritime assets as demand for efficient logistics networks continues to grow.

The United Ports alliance will focus on developing and managing port and terminal assets, supporting CMA CGM’s broader strategy of expanding its logistics ecosystem beyond ocean shipping. The venture is expected to enhance supply chain resilience by improving access to critical infrastructure and strengthening cargo handling capabilities.

CMA CGM has been investing heavily in ports, terminals, inland logistics and integrated supply chain solutions as shipping companies increasingly seek greater control over end-to-end cargo flows. The partnership with Stonepeak combines the carrier’s maritime expertise with the investment firm’s infrastructure capabilities.

The $2.4 billion transaction highlights growing investor interest in port infrastructure, driven by rising global trade volumes, supply chain diversification and the need for modernised logistics facilities. Ports remain key strategic assets as companies look to improve efficiency, capacity and reliability across international trade networks.

The United Ports alliance is expected to support long-term growth opportunities in the maritime infrastructure sector while reinforcing CMA CGM’s position as a global logistics provider with expanding terminal and supply chain capabilities.
