Container Corporation of India Limited (Concor) and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and management of common rail handling operations for upcoming container terminals at the proposed Vadhvan Port in Maharashtra.

Under the agreement, Concor will act as the common rail handling operator, offering consultancy and operational expertise in areas such as rail coordination, infrastructure planning, and container handling at the common rail yard. The initiative aims to create an integrated and efficient multimodal logistics network to support Vadhvan Port’s future operations.

The project entails an estimated investment of around ₹500 crore, to be implemented in phases, with operations targeted to commence by 2030.

The MoU was signed in Mumbai during the ongoing India Maritime Week 2025 by Shri Sanjay Swarup, Chairman and Managing Director, Concor, and Shri Unmesh Sharad Wagh, Chairman, JNPA, and CMD, Vadhvan Port Project Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.

This strategic partnership is expected to enhance multimodal connectivity, streamline container movement, and bolster India’s port-led growth. Both Concor and JNPA reaffirmed their commitment to improving logistics efficiency and advancing India’s maritime infrastructure under the government’s port modernisation vision.
