Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) has successfully launched its first-ever “Sugar Express” train from its Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Moradabad, marking a significant step in promoting rail-based bulk cargo movement.

The dedicated rake, comprising 80 twenty-foot domestic containers, is transporting sugar from Moradabad to Shalimar in Kolkata. The service has been executed in collaboration with Avadh Sugar and Energy Ltd., Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd., and M/s Prakash Bhalotia and Brothers.

CONCOR provided end-to-end logistics support, including first-mile and last-mile connectivity, ensuring seamless cargo movement. The initiative is expected to enhance the rail coefficient in sugar transportation while promoting environmentally sustainable logistics by reducing dependence on road transport.

The train was ceremonially flagged off by Vinita Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Moradabad, in the presence of Richa Sharma.

The launch of the “Sugar Express” highlights CONCOR’s continued focus on delivering efficient, reliable, and cost-effective logistics solutions. It also reinforces the company’s customer-centric approach, aimed at creating long-term value through optimized and sustainable cargo movement.
