Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Cochin Shipyard Limited under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, marked a significant milestone with the successful launch of a 70-ton Bollard Pull Tug, UY 173, built for Polestar Maritime Limited.

The vessel was formally launched by Anirudh Bhammar, Director of Polestar Maritime Limited, in the presence of senior officials from both Polestar Maritime and UCSL, underscoring the strong collaboration between the two organizations.

Designed to deliver superior towing performance and operational efficiency, the 70T Bollard Pull Tug UY 173 is equipped to handle demanding port and offshore operations. The vessel reflects UCSL’s growing capabilities in building high-performance harbour tugs aligned with global standards of safety, sustainability, and reliability.

This launch highlights UCSL’s continued progress in strengthening India’s shipbuilding ecosystem and supporting the nation’s maritime infrastructure growth. It also reinforces Cochin Shipyard Limited’s strategic focus on expanding its footprint through subsidiaries and delivering advanced vessels to meet evolving industry requirements.

With projects like UY 173, UCSL continues to contribute to the Government of India’s vision of enhancing domestic shipbuilding capacity and promoting self-reliance in the maritime sector.
