State-run logistics major Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has commenced specialised logistics services for the bulk movement of cement in loose form through advanced tank containers, marking a significant step toward modernising India’s cement supply chain.

The service is already operational for My Home Cement (MMHM) at Mellacheruvu in Andhra Pradesh. Under the arrangement, cement is being transported directly from silo to the final destination at CONCOR’s Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Bengaluru, ensuring seamless end-to-end rail-based movement.

Bulk cement transportation via rail in specialised tank containers offers multiple advantages over conventional bagged road transport. These include reduced handling losses and material wastage, lower logistics costs, faster turnaround time, and enhanced supply chain efficiency and reliability. The shift also supports green logistics initiatives by reducing carbon emissions and enabling safer, dust-free, and environmentally responsible transportation.

With this initiative, CONCOR continues to strengthen India’s multimodal logistics infrastructure while advancing efficient, sustainable, and future-ready freight solutions for the cement industry.
