In a major push to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen the logistics network, the Dahej Industrial Association (DIA) has begun assessing the feasibility of helicopter services connecting Vadodara, Surat, Ahmedabad and the Dahej industrial estate. Parallelly, the association is also studying new sea cargo routes between Dahej, Mumbai and Hazira.

The proposals were unveiled during DIA’s three-day workshop “Uttkarsh-2: DIA Vision 2035”, which commenced on Wednesday. The initiatives have been termed significant breakthroughs, promising faster mobility for executives, better emergency-response capabilities, smoother cargo movement and reduced burden on existing road networks.

“We have started exploring new transport mediums for people and cargo. The helicopter service and sea cargo will boost growth in the region,” said DIA president Dr. Sunil Bhatt.

More than 50 industry leaders from the Dahej belt — including HR heads, plant heads and operations chiefs — participated in the workshop. The event served as a follow-up to the association’s initial vision exercise conducted in 2023, reviewing progress made over the past two years and mapping out the next phase of growth.

Bhatt, in his inaugural address, revisited key achievements and stressed the need for deeper collaboration between industry and government agencies to drive Dahej’s development.

The workshop saw participation from major stakeholders such as GIDC, DGVCL, BDRCL, GHV Ltd., logistics operators and helicopter service providers. A comprehensive progress report covering 2023–2025 was presented by Bhatt and DIA general secretary Baldev Ahir, highlighting advancements in infrastructure coordination, safety measures, environmental initiatives, agency engagement and improved member services.

The proposed connectivity enhancements are expected to significantly strengthen Dahej’s position as one of Gujarat’s fastest-growing industrial hubs.
