d’Amico International Shipping has expanded its fleet renewal programme with a new order for an MR2 product tanker, taking the company’s total orderbook to 10 vessels as it continues to modernise its fleet.
The latest order reflects the company’s strategy to invest in fuel-efficient ships capable of meeting evolving environmental regulations and market demand for cleaner, more efficient tanker operations. MR2 tankers are widely used for transporting refined petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel on regional and long-haul routes.
With the new order, d’Amico International Shipping aims to strengthen its position in the medium-range product tanker segment, which remains a key component of global refined fuel trade. The additional vessel is expected to be equipped with modern energy-efficient technologies designed to reduce emissions and improve operational performance.
Industry analysts note that tanker owners have been increasingly placing newbuild orders to replace aging fleets and comply with stricter environmental standards introduced by the International Maritime Organization. Modern vessels are also seen as more attractive to charterers seeking lower fuel consumption and reduced carbon footprints.
The expansion of the orderbook signals continued confidence in the long-term outlook for the product tanker market, supported by steady demand for refined fuel transportation and evolving global energy trade flows.
