DHL Post & Parcel Germany has resumed shipping from Germany to the US and Puerto Rico for business customers following a four-week suspension due to new US customs regulations.

More than 30 international postal agencies paused or limited shipments to the US ahead of the de minimis exemption ending 29 August to await new regulatory guidance and and prepare for new processes.

From 25 September, companies will have the option to use DHL Parcel International for shipping to the US, in addition to DHL Express.

Business customers must book the ‘Postal Delivered Duty Paid’ (PDDP) service for shipments valued up to $800, cover all import duties for their recipient customers in advance, and provide complete and accurate customs data.

DHL said the DHL Parcel International shipping option “is made possible by the ‘Postal Delivered Duty Paid’ (PDDP) service, which DHL previously offered only for goods shipping to Norway, the UK, and Switzerland, and will now be extended to the USA”.

DHL said it has overhauled the process of data collection, customs reporting, and payment of applicable customs fees to comply with the new customs regulations imposed by the US govenment following the end of them de minimis exemption.

DHL noted that while additional costs for customs clearance and duties now apply to all shipments, except private gifts valued under $100, prices for business customer packages from Germany to the US remain stable.
