Greek shipping firm Diana Shipping Inc. has secured an improved time charter for one of its Panamax dry bulk carriers with SwissMarine Services, extending its streak of solid commercial performance in the mid-sized vessel segment.
Under the terms of the agreement, Diana’s Panamax bulker Crystalia has been fixed on a time charter at a higher daily rate compared with its previous employment, reflecting continued strength in the global dry bulk market for key trades such as grain and minor bulk commodities. The fixture duration and specific financial terms were not disclosed.
Diana Shipping said the re-employment with SwissMarine reinforces its ongoing strategy to optimize fleet utilisation and earnings, particularly across cargo routes where tonnage demand remains robust. Industry analysts noted that Panamax vessels — which typically carry around 60,000–80,000 dwt — have benefited this year from resilient volume flows in agricultural and industrial bulk movements.
“This charter reflects both our long-standing relationship with SwissMarine Services and the attractiveness of our vessel when deployed in the current market environment,” a Diana Shipping spokesperson said. “We continue to focus on securing competitive contract coverage and enhancing returns for shareholders.”
Diana’s fleet of dry bulk carriers spans a mix of Panamax, Kamsarmax and Capesize vessels. The company has actively pursued commercial opportunities across the Atlantic and Pacific basins, where seasonal cargo demand can influence freight rates and chartering prospects.
