DP World has launched its first Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Contract Logistics operation in Italy, marking a significant expansion of its European logistics network and strengthening its capabilities in the food and beverage sector.
The new 22,000-square-metre temperature-controlled, multi-customer facility is located at Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna. It will serve customers across the food and beverage, consumer goods and e-commerce sectors, providing specialised storage, distribution and fulfilment solutions.
The facility integrates warehousing, transportation, e-commerce fulfilment and value-added logistics services, enabling DP World to deliver comprehensive, end-to-end supply chain solutions. Its temperature-controlled infrastructure will support the safe storage and transportation of perishable food and beverage products, helping maintain product quality and prevent spoilage.
The launch represents an important step in DP World’s expansion into Italy, one of Europe’s largest consumer and manufacturing markets, while enhancing its ability to serve customers with integrated contract logistics solutions across the region.
“Launching our first FMCG Contract Logistics operation in Italy is an important milestone for DP World. Italy is a key European market, and expanding our capabilities here strengthens our network while opening new opportunities in the food and beverage sector,” said Rainer Schmid, Chief Commercial Officer of DP World Europe.
The new operation further reinforces DP World’s position as an integrated logistics partner in Europe, combining warehousing, transportation and specialised supply chain services to meet the evolving requirements of businesses across multiple industries.
