Contargo has completed the modernisation project at its Emmerich terminal, a move aimed at improving operational efficiency, handling capacity, and intermodal connectivity within Europe’s inland logistics network.
The upgrade project included infrastructure improvements and operational enhancements designed to support smoother container handling and faster cargo movement across rail, barge, and road transport links. Industry officials said the modernised terminal is expected to strengthen Contargo’s position in regional container logistics and support growing freight demand in the Rhine corridor.
The Emmerich facility plays an important role in linking seaports with inland destinations across Germany and neighbouring European markets. The latest investment is also expected to support more sustainable freight transport by encouraging greater use of rail and inland waterways in container distribution networks.
