Shri Praveen Kumar, Managing Director of DFCCIL, conducted an on-ground rail car inspection on 21 March 2026 to assess progress on the Vaitarna–JNPT section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), a key link for port connectivity and multimodal freight integration.

The inspection was attended by senior officials including Shri Anurag Sharma, Director (Infrastructure); Shri Sandesh Shrivastava, ED (Projects); Shri Manish Awasthy, ED (Infrastructure); Shri S. K. Negi, Consultant (Project Development); Shri Vikas Srivastava, GGM (S&T); Shri Ran Vijay, GGM (Electrical); and Shri H. G. Tiwari, CGM (Mumbai), along with the Mumbai Unit team.

This strategically important section connects to JNPT Port and features three interchange stations with Indian Railways at JNPT, Taloje, and Kharbao (Central Railway), strengthening seamless freight movement across the network.

During the visit, Shri Praveen Kumar reviewed operational readiness in line with committed timelines and emphasized the need for a coordinated final push. Drawing on his experience, he highlighted critical pre-commissioning checks essential for smooth operationalization.

The inspection concluded with a detailed review meeting involving all stakeholders, focusing on enhancing coordination and ensuring timely commissioning of the section.
