A fire has destroyed a mobile harbor crane at the Port of Itajaí, causing significant equipment damage but no reported injuries, according to port officials.

The incident occurred during port operations, with emergency response teams quickly deployed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby infrastructure or cargo handling areas. Authorities confirmed that all personnel were safely evacuated from the affected zone.

While the full extent of operational disruption is still being assessed, the loss of the crane is expected to temporarily impact cargo handling capacity at the terminal. Port authorities are reviewing contingency plans to maintain vessel schedules and minimize delays.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire. The port is a key logistics gateway in southern Brazil, handling a mix of containerized cargo, bulk shipments, and industrial goods.
