The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas has welcomed the BYD CHANGZHOU, the first ship the port has received from the BYD shipping company.
The ship docked at the Specialised Auto Terminal (TEA), operated by SSA Mexico, where 3,503 units were unloaded. BYD is one of the electric vehicle manufacturers with extensive use of clean technologies that help mitigate GHG impacts.
The BYD CHANGZHOU, a car carrier specialised in automotive transport, arrived from Asia, flying the Liberian flag.
This vessel has a length of 200 metres, a beam of 38 metres, and a draught of 8 metres, providing an impressive structure and the capacity to transport more than 22,000 net tonnes, reflecting the volume and scale of the operation it represents.
Last month, CEVA Logistics announced an expansion of its global deep-sea car carrier operations, now offering connections from the Far East to Central and South America via a regular trade lane and spot services.
More recently, SAAM Towage reported that Latin America’s first electric tugboat began its voyage from Tuzla (Turkey) to Puerto Montt (Chile). After completing its last sea trials, the tug embarked on the vessel BBC Olympus, specially designed to transport, as it is equipped with two high-capacity cranes.
