Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) in Alaska, US is offering its transit services to five new cargo carriers as it continues to expand freighter operations.
The five cargo carriers that have recently begun using ANC as a transit point are Awesome Cargo Airlines, Central Airlines of China, ASL Air Cargo, Aerologic Air Cargo and CMA CGM Air Cargo.
Awesome Cargo Airlines commenced operations in July, utilising Airbus A330-200 freighters on an Incheon (ICN)-ANC-Mexico City (MEX) route.
Central Airlines of China began service in September, operating Boeing 777 freighters on a Shenzhen (SZX)-ANC-Ontario (ONT) California route.
Belgian carrier ASL Air Cargo is also now flying a Jinan Yaoqiang (TNA)-ANC-New York (JFK) route several times a month with a 747-400 freighter.
Aerologic Air Cargo has additionally initiated monthly operations, servicing routes from Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN)-ANC-Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (CVG) and Hong Kong (HKG)-ANC-CVG using 777 freighters.
Plus, CMA CGM Air Cargo has begun operations with A330-200Fs on HKG-ANC-Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and HKG-ANC-Chicago O’Hare (ORD) routes, “supporting another significant operator based at ANC”, according to the airport.
Governor of Alaska Mike Dunleavy said: “We are excited to welcome five new cargo carriers to Anchorage International Airport, a significant milestone in our strategic plan to continue expanding cargo operations. These new carriers represent a crucial part of our long-term vision to support ANC as a global cargo hub.
“As we invest in building state-of-the-art cargo infrastructure, from additional warehousing to improved ramp space, these new operators will benefit from our ongoing commitment to supporting the needs of modern air freight.”
ANC experienced a 4.9% year-over-year increase in cargo activity between fiscal year 2023 and fiscal year 2024, with an additional 2% growth projected for fiscal year 2025.
