Fleet Management Limited (FLEET) successfully hosted a networking event at ITC Maratha, Mumbai, on 26 February, bringing together key figures in the maritime industry to discuss seafarer wellbeing and broader sustainability topics.

In attendance were Johannah Christensen, Chief Executive Officer, Global Maritime Forum, and Shyam Jagannathan IAS, Director General of Shipping, Government of India, among other distinguished opinion leaders, lending their expertise and support to the cause.

The event saw a series of insightful sessions, including an introductory speech by Deepak Correa, Chief Operating Officer of FLEET India, a keynote speech by Johannah Christensen, highlighting crucial aspects of seafarer wellbeing and happiness, and special remarks from Shyam Jagannathan IAS, shedding light on the Government of India’s ‘Maritime Vision’ and underscoring the importance of sustainable practices in the Indian maritime industry.

Deepak Correa, Chief Operating Officer, Fleet Management India, said: “We are honoured to have hosted the CEO of the Global Maritime Forum, Ms Johannah Christensen, along with esteemed luminaries from the Indian maritime industry, including FLEET’s senior seafarers. As a proud partner of the Forum, FLEET shares a common vision of prioritising human wellbeing and sustainability. This event served as an excellent platform to showcase our initiatives in seafarer wellbeing while gaining insights into the Forum’s policies on welfare and sustainability. This has opened up exciting possibilities for future collaborations between our organisations. Additionally, we gained insight into the Government of India’s ‘Maritime Vision’ and strategic initiatives aimed at advancing seafarer wellbeing, sustainability and beyond.”

This initiative by FLEET aligns with the company’s ongoing sustainability efforts and commitment to making a positive impact on seafarers and their wellbeing. By convening industry leaders and fostering meaningful discussions, FLEET aims to drive collective action towards a safer, more sustainable future for the maritime community.
