Jodhpur’s furniture exporters are gaining improved logistics connectivity with the introduction of ‘Furniture Express’, a dedicated service aimed at supporting the movement of furniture consignments from the Rajasthan manufacturing hub to export gateways.
The initiative is expected to help exporters streamline the transportation of finished furniture and related products, reducing logistics constraints and improving shipment planning. Jodhpur is a major centre for wooden and handicraft furniture manufacturing, with products supplied to overseas markets across Europe, North America and other regions.
The dedicated logistics service can provide exporters with more predictable cargo movement and better coordination between manufacturing clusters, inland logistics facilities and ports. This is particularly important for furniture shipments, which require specialised handling because of their size, weight and packaging requirements.
Faster movement of export cargo could also help manufacturers improve delivery schedules and respond more efficiently to international orders. Improved logistics connectivity is increasingly important for Rajasthan’s furniture sector as exporters compete in global markets.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the link between Jodhpur’s furniture production base and India’s wider export logistics network, supporting the city’s position as an important furniture manufacturing and export centre.
Industry stakeholders are also looking at better multimodal connectivity and logistics infrastructure to reduce transportation costs and improve the competitiveness of furniture and handicraft exports from the region.
