In line with the Government of India’s Harit Sagar initiative aimed at creating greener and more sustainable ports, GTI has accelerated its decarbonization roadmap with the induction of electric terminal equipment at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA).
The transition began in 2023 with a clear objective—to enable customers to reduce Scope 3 emissions while building a more efficient and reliable terminal ecosystem. As part of this initiative, the terminal has already inducted 20 electric Terminal Tractors, with an additional 50 units scheduled for deployment by 2026. The move places GTI firmly on track to achieve a fully electric ITV (Internal Terminal Vehicle) fleet by 2028.
A key enabler of this transition has been the strong collaboration with JNPA, which facilitated the establishment of a dedicated battery-swapping station. This infrastructure ensures seamless and disruption-free electrification of terminal operations, maintaining productivity while reducing carbon intensity.
